‘Salaam Mumbai’ enjoys int’l premiere

Iran and India joint cinematic project ‘Salaam Mumbai’ has started screening in 11 US cities since last week.

Directed by Qorban Mohammadpour and produced by Javad Norouzbeigi, the movie is a joint Iran-India cinematic project which has hit the big screen in the United States since January 17.

The film has so far been shown in the US cities of Houston, Dallas, Virginia City, San Diego, Chicago and Los Angeles among others and will remain on screen for a month until February 16.

Starring one of the most popular Iranian actors, Mohammadreza Golzar, the romantic drama was shot in India and the main language of the film is English.

‘Salaam Mumbai’ narrates the story of Ali, an Iranian exchange student from Iran, who is studying medicine as a cardio resident in Mumbai.

By chance, he saves the life of one of his classmates Karishma, who has attempted suicide.

Little by little he tries to talk to Karishma and give her hope and happiness, which eventually leads to the two of them falling in love.

According to Iran film distributors, the blockbuster has racked in over 120 billion rials as of Thursday, January 19.

The melodrama features other Iranian actors, such as Benyamin Bahadori and Shaili Mahmoudi as well as Indian actors Dia Mirza, Gulshan Grover, Poonam Dhillon and Dalip Tahil, among others.

The international screening of the film will continue in other countries.
